Congratulations on your new lok journey!!
Developing healthy Loks is a matter of Teamwork and Consistency from both you and your Loktician.
Please listen to and trust your Consultant, and be sure to ask questions that will help you better understand how to care for your hair.
Please thoroughly read the below Expectations and Reminders.
The 3 Lok Lovin’ Tribal Rules
Braid & Band
Do this every single time you shampoo (every 1-2 weeks) for the first several months.
- Allow space at the scalp for water to pass.
-Do not braid to the very tip of your loks (but make sure to round the ends into the rubber band so they're not just hanging freely - see photo below) !!
-Make smaller braids around the hairline/nape, if you have shorter loks in that area.
-Wait for the hair to dry or use a blow dryer before taking the braids and bands down.
**this is a requirement and you can expect to be dismissed as a client, if you do not do your part!**
No Oil, Product, Conditioner, Creams, etc.
You have been provided all the products you’ll need for the first several months/year of your journey. The items in your Welcome Package are all you should be applying to your loks for now! Slippage/unravelling is real, and repairs start at $90/hr.
** this a requirement and you can expect to be dismissed as a client, if you do not do your part! **
Let your loks be!
Don't get caught up in styling the hair just yet. Let the loks hang freely or pull up loosely. Give your hair a chance to understand what’s going on and develop without disturbance.
PLEASE DO NOT STROKE ON YOUR LOKS REPEATEDLY. THEY WILL UNRAVEL! Slippage/unravelling is real, and repairs start at $90/hr.
**this a requirement and you can expect to be dismissed as a client, if you do not do your part!**
Care for your loks properly to ensure a solid foundation to your journey !
Reminders
Budding
Your loks will begin to curl up on the ends and little balls will form on the tips. Do not pick these off. They are like seeds of a plant indicating the loks are trying to develop/come to life!
Shampoo
Shampoo in the SINK with LOW pressure water, gently, no excessive scratching/rubbing.
Dilute your shampoo in the spray bottle provided.
Let your hair dry before taking down the braids and bands. Use a dryer to speed up the process, if necessary.
Separating
On shampoo days make sure the roots of your loks are not sticking together. Gently pull your loks apart from the roots to ensure they do not mat together.
Daily care
Lightly mist your new loks and scalp with water/rose water as needed. IF YOU DON'T NEED IT, DON'T DO IT!
Do not mist to the point your hair is dripping wet.
Wear a cap for shower time.
Trust your Loktician!! They only want what's best for your journey!
